I have previously bought K’Nex so I was familiar with the product. My one concern with the 400 piece set is that this set’s pieces seemed thinner then the set I bought several years ago. However, we can still use them together. The other thing that’s great is that the K’Nex can be used with Legos, which we have in abundance. Finally, although there are some extremely small pieces, the set comes with a large case. It is big enough to store not only the parts from this set but also parts from your other sets. You can also store a partially built model in it. Unfortunately for my frustrated older kids, my 3 year old was able to get the lid off and dismantle their projects.
In addition to the 400 piece set, we recieved A Sesame Stree Neighborhood Collection Building Set. These are for younger kids. In my opinion they are very similar to Duplos, and in fact could be used with them. The one downside of this set is that it doesn’t come with a case to store them in. There is a buildable Elmo in the set so kids can relate to it right away. These sets sell for $9.99 to $19.99.
Finally, one other important note about K’Nex is that they are made in the U.S.A.

My kids had other projects, but this was the only one I was able to get a picture of before my 3 year old destroyed it. My 5 year old made it and told me it was Origami. Knex does inspire your child’s imagination
