My Coupon “High” Trips–Pleasant Surprises at Bottom Dollar & Kmart

Lately my shopping trips haven’t been huge.  This is mainly due to a lack of great deals and the fact that my freezer and stockpile are pretty full.    Even though they are smaller trips though, they are still Coupon “High” trips.  Just goes to prove that you don’t have to go to an extreme.

The trip at Giant Eagle was pretty uneventful, but I saved 68% and  was able to confirm some of the Giant Eagle deals.  Also, I was able to use the $3/$15 Family Dollar coupon.

First the  Jif Hazelnut was included in the OYNO deal.  However, I didn’t want to buy $20 worth, so I just picked up one jar for $1.50.  Also, the Post Raisin Bran is included in the Post cereal sale, so you can pick it up for $1 a box.  I would have grabbed more, but my other coupons were MIA.

The one disappointment was that regular Cheerios and Cinnamon Toast Crunch were not included in the 4/$10 sale.  So I’ll have to save those coupons for future use.

I also picked up two bags of clearance priced candy at $1.50 a bag since or trick-or treating is tomorrow.

Next, I stopped in at Bottom Dollar Foods.  I was planning on buying the 3 lb bags of Tangerines for $1.97, but my store hadn’t received them yet.  They said they should be coming in Sunday.  Still picked up a couple deals, including Price Matching Produce to the Aldis ad.

3 bags Baby Carrots (Price Matched to Aldis at 48 cents per bag)

My pleasant surprise at Bottom Dollar came when I was handed the receipt.  I received three coupons.

• $6 off your next $60 Purchase
• $1 off your next packaged Lunchmeat of $3.50 or more
• Free One Dozen large White Eggs when you spend $10

I don’t routinely spend $60 at Bottom Dollar, but I can use this as a competitor coupon at Giant Eagle next time I shop.

I also made a quick stop at Kmart to check out their Halloween Clearance, since it was right next door to Giant Eagle.  I found some candy for 50% off.  I figured I would pick up at $1.50 a bag  since my kids love Skittles.  When the cashier rang up my Shop Your Way card she informed me I had $10 on it for being a “valued member” that was going to expire 11/8.  That was a very pleasant surprise.

I applied that to my 4 bags of clearance  candy and got it for free, and still have $4 to use in the future.  You can check your account here to see if you got the bonus $10 reward for being a “valued member”
