The plan yesterday was to visit Giant Eagle to get in on the last day of the sale and pick up some of the Quaker Cereal and Campbells Soups for 50 cents. However, life threw me a curve ball. Due to the cold weather and the fact that a light had been left on in the car, my car battery was dead. So there went the trip to Giant Eagle.
I was a little bummed about missing out on the Quaker and Campbells deals, but more then that I noticed this morning that I also missed out on using a $5 OYNO coupon since it expired on 1/23/13. The sales will probably come back around again in a couple weeks, but the $5 is gone for good.
So it made my day today when I checked my mailbox and found a coupon for $10 off my next $20 or More Grocery Purchase at Giant Eagle.
The note attached says
We couldn’t help noticing that we’re not seeing you around as often. We miss having you as a customer and would like to share some reasons you may want to come back and visit us soon.
In other words, since I’ve been shopping around for the best deals and not limiting myself to one store I now get $10 savings.
I still have been shopping at Giant Eagle, but only for the truly good deals. To make my dollar go even further I have also been shopping at Shop N Save, Aldis and doing price matching at Bottom Dollar.
Just more proof that competition is a good thing.
While you may not receive the same coupon today or even this week, if you are shopping around for the best deals you might just get a similar note and coupon in your mailbox.
I’ll definitely be using this $10/$20 coupon to save even more on the Free Chex Mix, Cheap Ragu and other Money Saving Deals at Giant Eagle this week.
